The Ski-Doo 1799599 VTG Rotax 335 Bombardier Engine Olympique Skandic Elan is a legendary piece of snowmobiling history. This vintage engine, originally designed for the Skandic Elan model, boasts an impressive power output of 335 cubic centimeters. The VTG (Variable Twin Groove) technology ensures optimal performance in various conditions, delivering smooth and efficient power delivery.

The Rotax 335 engine is renowned for its robustness and reliability. It features a single-cylinder, two-stroke design, which is known for its simplicity and durability. The engine's lightweight construction, combined with its powerful output, makes it a favorite among enthusiasts who value both performance and longevity.

The Olympique Skandic Elan engine is equipped with a carburated fuel system, which provides a consistent fuel-air mixture for optimal combustion. This, in turn, ensures efficient and reliable power delivery, even in cold weather conditions. The engine is also equipped with a manual choke, allowing for easy starting in cold climates.

Details:

Just too bulky with it attached to engine for shipping. Couple of other things needing mentioned so you don't get a surprise. The carb nuts are just on finger-tight, as the will most likely need a good cleaning inside, but choke and throttle work fine. This engine is equipped with a decompress, which works good.

Must have gotten stripped somehow is the only thing I can figure so was retreaded out to a larger size, but it solid. Because of this, I had to drill out the flange holes on muffler purchased for it in order go. I never adjusted them, but they did appear a tad wide of gap. The starter rewind goes back in rather slow so that will need some attention too.

The muffler for this has 2 braces. Anything else. The magneto and all else I could see through the flywheel slots looked quite clean. Could not see any loose wiring but when I first removed the outer flywheel cover a few acorns and shells fell out so maybe mouse chewed on some that can't be seen without removing.

I don't like surprises any more than you do. That lower brace attachment hole will need a metric bolt I think of same size as the upper brace, but shorter. After doing this they closed and opened properly as I turned it over by hand. At some point earlier on by a previous owner, 1 of the 2 exhaust studs was replaced with larger stud.

The brown you see through the carb and exhaust holes is not rust. I removed the outer flywheel cover and cleaned points.they were not opening/closing at all.were corroded up with crud in open position. It seems to have good compression but no spark. Or maybe the coil is bad, or some of outer wiring needs hooked up, I just don't know, got disgusted so here it.

This engine has not run for many years. See last of 20 photos. Free shipping is only to lower 48 US states. It is oily and will wipe right off if you put a tissue to it.

I don't have a puller for that so just through in the towel.
